Twelve men will take part in the eighth installment of "The Big Break," this one called "The Big Break: Mesquite" (because it was shot in Mesquite, Nev., natch).

Get an early look at the 12 contestants, who will be vying for - for the first time - an exemption into a PGA Tour tournament.

Also note that The Golf Channel is currently accepting applications from golfers wanting to be on the following installment of the series, the ninth "Big Break." That series will include all women.

Why are you ignoring the high handicappers. My handicap is 23 but I would love to see a competition between high handicappers. Insread of an exemption on the PGA tour, the winner could be given golf lessosn to help them improve. Pleae consider.

To the high handicappers requesting a show – Do you guys think people want to watch hackers hit chilli dippers all day long to see who is going to get lessons. Not going to happen.

“Just a regular guy”….. Im a 34 year old single father & deli owner who has the golf skills & entertainment, that is perfect fit for your show. Im a 11 handicap, only playing 3 years with never having a lesson. I recently got ponzi schemed for my life savings & need a “big break”.

I’m a collegiate golfer as well. 20 years old, will be 21 in January. I’m in the same situation as a person posted about 2 years ago. I’ve seen some of the players on there, and they’re nothing I haven’t played against before. In fact I’ve even won championships at my home course. The only reason I haven’t participated in tournaments is that there is no literature or information on how to get involved. I really would like to be on the big break as well. It’s a great opportunity, it’s right up my alley.

Any information on how to go about this?

Thanks,

Only way to apply to be on Big Break is by filling out the (lengthy) application form that is sometimes posted on golfchannel.com. Usually, at some point during the airing of one Big Break season, they’ll begin taking application for the next BB series. When that happens, they post notices on golfchannel.com. You fill in the application, then wait and hope that you called for an audition. But as noted, you just have to keep watch on the Golf Channel’s website to spot it.
