Wie Heading Back to PGA Tour

Tuesday May 22, 2007
Remember all that talk a few weeks ago about Michelle Wie calling off any more appearances on the PGA Tour to concentrate on the LPGA Tour? Good, now forget it.

Because today the PGA Tour John Deere Classic announced Wie has accepted a sponsor exemption and will compete in the tournament July 12-15.

Said tournament director Clair Peterson:

"She is a wonderful talent who attracts a tremendous amount of interest among traditional and nontraditional golf fans, which helps broaden the game's appeal, especially among young people."

Wie hasn't played since the PGA Tour Sony Open in January, nursing a couple of injured wrists. We'll see what the state of her game is like after this long layoff next week when she plays the LPGA Ginn Tribute.

Why don’t she give it up. She hasn’t won anything and hasn’t even come close. She should first win on the LPGA which I don’t think she can. I think all she is is a publicity stunt ?????????

Just pair her up with Sanjaya and leave the PGA to the guys.

She still doesn’t get it. She can’t win in the LPGA, and wants to make the cut on the PGA … what an accomplishment. The John Deere Classic must not be able to fill with qualified members of the PGA?! By the this time, the gate at the JDC will probably not be affected by her presence, except fot those people ignorant of the game. The joke, now, of 2007!

TOO funny. And don’t you love the PC comments from Clair Peterson: “She is a wonderful talent who attracts a tremendous amount of interest among traditional and nontraditional golf fans, which helps broaden the game’s appeal, especially among young people.”

Baloney - she’s a cute chick with a pretty swing and there are enough fair weather golfers out there who will buy tickets for Thursday and Friday - we only hope she doesn’t pass out from the July heat because she couldn’t handle 76 degrees last year.

I GIVE THE LADY CREDIT. GOLF IS GOLF. I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE WOULD GIVE UP A CHANCE TO PLAY A PGA OR LPGA TOURNAMENT GIVEN A SPONSORS EXEMPTION REGARDLESS OF GENDER? IT WAS OFFERED TO HER, GO FOR IT. MICHELLE, DO YOUR BEST AND ENJOY YOURSELF, YOU MADE IT THERE!!

In a funny way I feel sorry for Michelle Wie.

She definatly has talent and great ability… whether it happens on the PGA or the LPGA, it needs to be proven on the playing field on a consistent basis — and this I blame her father and a very poor managment team.

By the time she finally gets an understanding of the “real world”, supurb players like Lorena Ochoa and 10 other great players coming up the ranks will make her a long forgotten memory.

Hey dad, she’s the player - let her prove her bones.!
