Masters: Appleby Leads, Tiger 1 Back After Brutal Day 3

Saturday April 7, 2007
How tough was Augusta National playing during the third round of The Masters on Saturday? Nobody broke 70; only one person broke par. That was Retief Goosen, who started early in the day near the back of the pack, shot 70, and by the end of the day was tied for eighth place.

Round 3 Leaderboard
Stuart Appleby, +2
Tiger Woods, +3
Justin Rose, +3
Padraig Harrington, +4
Vaughn Taylor, +4
Zach Johnson, +4

Yep, that's Tiger Woods in second place, one off the lead, despite more late bogeys. Woods shot even-par 72. Other notables:

Retief Goosen, +6
Phil Mickelson, +6
David Toms, +6
Jim Furyk, +6

That quartet of players is just four off the lead, all of them definite contenders on Sunday. Vijay Singh shot 79 on Saturday ... but is still just five off the lead at 7-over.
