Hawaiian Teen Makes Cut at Sony
No, we're talking about 16-year-old Tadd Fujikawa, who shot 71 in the opening round of the Sony Open, then followed that up with a 66 (including an eagle on the final hole) to easily make the cut. And Fujikawa didn't just make the cut, he's in the Top 25!
Fujikawa, a 5-foot-1 sophomore in high school, is the second-youngest player ever to make a PGA Tour cut:
- Bob Panasik, 1957 Canadian Open, 15 years, 8 months
- Tadd Fujikawa, 2007 Sony Open, 16 years, 4 days
- Ty Tryon, 2001 Honda Classic, 16 years, 9 months
Last year, Fujikawa won his sectional qualifier to become the youngest player player since World War II to qualify for the U.S. Open, and then was the youngest-ever to play the U.S. Open.
