Notebook: Bruce Edwards Foundation

Longtime caddie Bruce Edwards passed away in 2004 from Lou Gehrig's Disease, or ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). His friend and, for many years, employer, Tom Watson, formed a fundraising organization at that time, and has raised millions of dollars since for ALS research.

Now, Watson has teamed up with author John Feinstein - whose book, Caddy for Life (buy now), told Edwards' story - to form the The Bruce Edwards ALS Research Foundation. The new organization has already raised more than $1 million, and all of its fundraising goes directly to research dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for ALS.
