Equipment Update: Bridgestone Balls and Much More

Tuesday October 11, 2005
bridgestone e6 golf balls This edition of our regular Equipment Update is overflowing with new gear. There are a couple new balls from Bridgestone, Mizuno irons, Adams hybrids, Nickent putters ... and we've even got socks! To check it all out,

• The Bridgestone e5 and e6 balls are designed for mid-handicappers. The e5 is a two-piece ball with a urethane cover geared to produce a higher trajectory for more carry. The e6 is a multi-layer ball designed to reduce sidespin off the driver. More info

• Mizuno's MX-900 irons are, the company claims, "the most technologically advanced Game Improvement irons in the company's history." More info

• Adams Golf has new versions of the Idea hybrid, the a2 and a2 OS. The a2 is a tour design played on all three major men's tours. Available in 1, 2, 3 and 4 models, the a2 retails for $199 each. The a2 OS is an offset version for mid- and high-handicappers. The a2 OS are available in men's lofts, senior lofts and women's lofts, and also retail for $199 each. More info

• We liked the Nickent Pipe putter a lot when we tried it out a while back. Now there are three new models: a left-handed version of the original double-bend shaft; a center-shafted model; and a plumber neck model. More info

• And then there's DeFeet. DeFeet Golf makes "high-performance golf socks," and offers a new program that allows customers to customize the socks they order. Large orders can include a company logo or other brand. More info
