Friday June 24, 2005
Another week on the PGA Tour, another round of discussions about slow play. PGA Tour players and officials like to talk about slow play, they just never seem to do anything about it. Vijay Singh is the latest to complain. Following a 5-hour round at the Barclays Classic, Singh told the Associated Press, "It's ridiculous. I mean, you play a round of golf in five hours and wait on every shot. It's just like the officials are just blind."
Of course, slow play is a problem at every level of the game, right down to my level and your level. With that in mind, here are some tips for improving the pace of play, tips that you can put into practice the next time you tee it up.
And there is a tour, Vijay, that has taken strong steps to speed up play - and succeeded. Take a look back at how the LPGA Tour took control of its slow play problems.
