"Battle at the Bridges" Going Out with a Bang?
Tuesday March 29, 2005
The "Battle at the Bridges" - Tiger Woods' made-for-TV, prime-time golf annual that began its life as "Battle at the Bighorn" - might be going out with a bang. That's among the interesting tidbits in Doug Ferguson's weekly golf notebook for The Associated Press.
Ferguson writes that with ratings falling off annually and significantly, there is talk this year's installment, airing on July 25, could be the last. But if it is, it might also be the best: word is that Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson might pair up against Ernie Els and Vijay Singh, putting all four of the Big Four on in primetime.
Ferguson also tells us what officials with the four majors feel about the major-championship prospects of The Players Championship - a topic we addressed ourselves last week.
One more note: Fred Funk, Players Championship winner, is among the four players looking for a caddie during a practice round at the MCI Heritage Classic. If you're interested in caddying for Funk (or any of three other Tour players), learn how to put in your bids - which benefit the Caddy For a Cure program - here.
