Nike's Magic Black Ball Available in Special Promotion
Thursday March 3, 2005
Would you pay $645 for a sleeve of these golf balls? That's what one golfer did on eBay. The balls are the limited-edition black version of the Nike One Black golf ball. The Nike One Black and Nike One Gold have been available for a while (in regular white), and carry an MSRP of $54 per dozen. But when Nike Golf made a few Nike One Blacks that were actually black, and a few members of Nike's tour staff used the black balls in competition, a craze seemed to take hold. Now Nike is making the black balls in a limited edition, and the rest of us can get our hands on them through a special promotion that gets under way this week.
The promotion is pretty simple: Nike is sending 2-ball sleeves of the black Nike One Black to participating retailers and pro shops. Any golfer who buys a 12-pack of Nike One Black or Nike One Gold at one of those shops gets the special 2-ball sleeve free. While supplies last, of course.
No list of participating shops has been released, so if you're desperate to be blackballed, you'll just have to make some calls or pay a few visits to golf shops in your area. According to Nike, the special 2-ball sleeves should begin showing up in as early as this week.
