Creamer vs. Wie and LPGA Qualifying

Sunday December 5, 2004
Who will have the better pro career, Paula Creamer or Michelle Wie? That's the question posed in a new poll posted in our golf forum. The question comes up because 18-year-old Creamer, who hasn't even graduated high school yet, won the LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament on Sunday to earn her LPGA Tour card.

Michelle Wie, now 15, has performed incredible feats on the LPGA and PGA tours over the past two years (that's at ages 13 and 14, if you're scoring at home), overshadowing Creamer.

But it was Creamer who was the No. 1-ranked junior player in the world for much of that time.

And Creamer has already made her mark on the LPGA Tour, too, making the cut in every LPGA event she played last year, and finishing second in one LPGA tournament.

Will Creamer be a better professional golfer than Wie? Some are saying yes, including the author of the pleasingly-simply-named "Golf Blog" in this post. Others believe Wie will be the biggest thing in women's golf since, well, Annika Sorenstam exploded several years back.

Visit our Golf Forums to cast your vote in the Creamer vs. Wie poll. You can also read more about Paula Creamer in the excellent article, "She's One Pink Panther," on GolfWorld.com.

In the meantime, here are the Top 30 finishers from the LPGA Qualifying Tournament (these players earned exempt status for the 2005 LPGA season):
