Europe Dominates Day 1 at Ryder Cup
Friday September 17, 2004
Team Europe walloped Team USA on Friday at the Ryder Cup, racing to a 6.5 to 1.5 lead. The 5-point lead is the largest since the Great Britain & Ireland team was expanded to Team Europe in 1979, and ties the largest first-day lead in the history of the Ryder Cup. Not since the U.S. held a 6.5-1.5 lead in 1975 has one side been as dominant on Day 1.
