Q-School Class of 2003
Monday December 8, 2003
Congratulations to the PGA Tour National Qualifying Tournament Class of 2003. Following six brutal days of play in the Q-School finals, these 34 players have earned - and we mean earned - their PGA Tour cards for 2004.
The 34 new members of the PGA Tour are:
Mathias Gronberg, Danny Ellis, Michael Allen, John Riegger, David Branshaw, Daniel Chopra, Omar Uresti, Kris Cox, Arjun Atwal, John Maginnes;
Wes Short, Tjaart van der Walt, Brian Bateman, Ken Duke, Dan Olsen, Kevin Moncrief, Russ Cochran, Todd Hamilton, Brian Kortan, Hunter Mahan;
Steve Pate, Rich Barcelo, Scott Hend, Kevin Na, Roger Tambellini, Trevor Dodds, Boyd Summerhays, Brian Gay, Deane Pappas, Jay Delsing, Roland Thatcher, Grant Waite, Hirofumi Miyase, Danny Briggs.
An interesting group, with several longtime PGA Tour members regaining their cards (Maginnes, Cochran, Pate - a former Ryder Cupper, Delsing - who had Corey Pavin on his bag) and youngsters with big futures (Hunter Mahan, Kevin Na among others).
I think the two to keep an eye from this group - the two who could break out - are Gronberg and Atwal. Both are top-flight international players with much professional tournament experience, Gronberg on the European Tour and Atwal on the Asian Tour.
