Tiger Switching Drivers
Monday July 28, 2003
Inferior equipment? Or just a loss of confidence with the club? It was announced on Monday that Tiger Woods is making a switch in drivers, dropping - at least temporarily - his Nike forged titanium.
Beginning with tonight's Battle at the Bridges, Woods will be using a Titleist driver. A Nike spokesperson told espn.com's Darren Rovell that Woods was expected to stay away from Nike drivers "at least through the PGA Championship."
Doubly interesting that Tiger is trying out a new driver on the same night he'll be in competition (albeit an exhibition) against Phil Mickelson, whose comments that Woods was playing "inferior equipment" caused a ruckus earlier this year.
